OUR STORY

3rd and 4th Generation

Family-Owned Ranch

Our family ranch began in 1917 when Earl and Martha Johnston started their homestead.  Over the years our operation shifted from Hereford, Short Horn, and Red Angus Cattle until falling in love with Highland Cattle in 2010 with our first Highland cow.

ABOUT 11M Ranch

11M Ranch began building our herd by developing partnerships with other Highland breeders, Gryphon Ranch and Hangman's Hill Highlands.  We have been raising breeding stock, both registered and unregistered, for those looking to add quality Highlands to their operations.

In 2024, we began to change our operation by selling our unregistered cows and increasing our registered fold.  Our goals are to provide registered Highlands and quality beef to customers in Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska.

Natural, Grass-fed and finished Beef

The majority of our steers are born and raised on our land in Northern Colorado.  They roam our land eating the natural short grasses of the Pawnee Grasslands, like Buffalo grass.  During the winter, they are fed grass and alfalfa hay.  During the summer, our breeding cattle are supplemented with a 20% protein cattle range cube.  To ensure our steers meet the grass fed and finished title, they are supplemented with alfalfa hay for the added protein.
